Our Chinese friends invited us to go to lunch with them to their Indian friends home. It was an open house for Deepavali, an Indian celebration. The food was good. It was spicy but not too much. Sister Ho took them a cake and bought us some candy to give them as a gift.

This is the younger brother and his wife. They wear these clothes for special occasions because it is troublesome to wear (that is what they told me).

This is where we wait after getting off the LRT to get on the bus (or get a taxi if we don't want to wait) to go to the mall.

Bruce is born the year of the ram. They had a statue for each animal of the Chinese years. There are twelve.

The Smiths went with us to Sunway Pyramid mall. They have a car so this was their first experience with riding the bus. The machine wouldn't take his money. This girl wanted the bus to get going so she is helping him purchase his card.

This is our neighbor's durian tree. You don't pick them, they just fall. Stay out of the way. I got nine mosquito bites taking this picture. But within two hours they were gone!

Deepavali is an Indian celebration of Light over Darkness. Notice the guard by the jewelry store. We pass them as we go to the family history center and they are friendly. There are many guards.

This is as decoration at the Midvalley Megamall. They do these on the floor with colored rice in the malls. We saw these last year.

This is a rambutan tree in our yard. The ones on top are ripe. The tree next to it has a brown fruit with a Chinese name that no one seems to know. We also have a papaya tree. The banana tree is across the fence so we can't eat those.

Friendrich invented a pole with clippers on it to reach the rambutan at the top of the tree.

This is the fruit. You just twist it to open. There is a pit in the middle.

We went to a multicultural event that was sponsored by interfaith organizations. Seven Asian countries were represented. They sang and danced.

At the end of the program everyone sang "we are connected" . These are some of our small group from the church.

These are wax figures in the Battle Box. We wore headphones to listen to the stories in each room. We also had a guide.

This is the National Museum of Singapore. We went to Singapore for our Senior Conference. We went a few days early. This is the Smiths first senior conference. We didn't do anything together as a large group. The conference was on a Thursday evening and Friday and most of us had to leave Saturday for home. Next Senior Conference we are going to go to the play "Wicked".

They gave us headphones and a box to listen to the narrative about each area. This was my favorite museum. But it closed before I was finished. It told the history of all the civilizations in Malaysia which Singapore was a part until about 1965. This is Sister Smith.

This was an interesting museum. This is where the terracotta display is. It will be in Singapore for just a few months. There were displays about all the cultures.

It is deepavali this month. It is the beginning of the Hindu Year according to the lunar calendar. It means Row of Lights and celebrates goodness over evil. It is the 26 of October.

These seniors had a layover in Kuching on their way to Singapore. They went to the Sarawak Cultural Village and got these shells that make different tones of music. They practiced at the airport. They are the Sarawak Shell Singers and performed for us after our dinner.

This is visiting after dinner with the senior couples. There are 17 couples counting the mission president. One couple and one senior sister are going home next month. So good to visit with them and get new ideas.
